Product Details
Product Label Cortevanload SDS
Dithane® Rainshield® turf and ornamental specialty fungicide is a broad spectrum ornamental contact fungicide for preventative control of rust, scab and other key diseases. It offers longerlasting protection and better disease control than other fungicides in its class. It is recommended for use at nurseries, greenhouses, sod farms and other turf settings.
- Offers control of major leaf spots and blights of ornamental plants and turf
- Optimum disease control is achieved when the fungicides are applied in a regularly scheduled preventive spray program
How Dithane® Rainshield® Specialty Fungicide Works
By attacking many enzymatic sites in a nonselective manner, Dithane Rainshield prevents organisms from adapting and mutating. Because of this, fungal strains have not developed resistance to Dithane Rainshield in more than 30 years of use.
Once Dithane Rainshield touches the plant surface, moisture and oxygen actually promote redistribution, increasing the product’s protective effects. Tests show that Rainshield technology enhances the ability of the active ingredient, mancozeb, to remain on the plant surface even after heavy rain or irrigation, or in the summertime when heat and humidity combine to create the heaviest disease pressure of the year.
What is Rainshield Technology?
The mancozeb particles in Dithane Rainshield are small and refined, so more fungicide remains on the turf blades - allowing long-lasting, broadspectrum disease control. Corteva AgroSciences calls this smaller particle science “Rainshield technology.” Testing has shown that Rainshield technology allows better distribution of the active ingredient with fewer gaps in protection. This helps ensure more even and consistent coverage - even after heavy rain or irrigation. This means more Dithane Rainshield specialty fungicide remains on the plant surface for a longer time - for reliable disease control.

Application
Turf professionals should start applications of Dithane Rainshield when grass greens up in spring or when disease first appears. The recommended label use rate is 4 – 8 OZ/1,000 SQ FT, applied in a sufficient amount of water to provide adequate coverage. For optimum results, repeat at 7-14-day intervals, or until threat of disease is past.
For ornamentals in a landscape or nursery setting, begin spraying Dithane Rainshield specialty fungicide when plants are well leafed out or at first sign of disease, in a full coverage spray at seven- to 10-day intervals. Ornamental plants treated with Dithane Rainshield should not be used for food or feed purposes.
Turfgrass tolerance has been found to be acceptable; however, this product, and tank mixes with this product, have not been tested on all varieties of every turfgrass species, or under all possible growing conditions. Treated turfgrass should be maintained in a vigorous growing condition. Stressed turf will not respond to fungicide treatments as well as well-maintained turfgrass.
See Label for complete application instructions.
Tank Mixing
Dithane Rainshield is compatible with other commonly used fungicides and insecticides. When preparing tank mixes, users should consult spray compatibility charts or state extension service specialists prior to use. If a user is unfamiliar with the performance of Dithane Rainshield or tank mixes, a limited area should be treated prior to initial large-scale applications.
