Divanem Nematicide Will Get to the Root of Parasitic Turf Nematodes

Powered by the trusted active ingredient abamectin, Divanem is an enhanced formulation insecticide that delivers broad-spectrum nematode control, including the three most damaging species, via broadcast or spot treatment applications.

Enjoy the Proven Performance of Syngenta Nematicide When You Entrust Your Turf to Divanem

Divanem® nematicide delivers excellent turf quality through proven, broad-spectrum control, including sting, lance, and root-knot nematodes. The innovative formulation moves quickly into the soil where nematodes are most active and provides drought tolerance and quicker recovery from stress.

Quicker Recovery from Stress- Divanem protects roots from nematode damage, so root system quality and mass can increase drastically. Deeper, more dense roots allow for healthier, stronger turf that maintains the highest quality above and below ground, allowing quicker recovery from stress, including aerification.

Enhanced Drought Tolerance- Divanem moves into the soil where nematodes are most active, providing enhanced drought tolerance compared to untreated turf. Nematode-damaged roots not only absorb less water but are also more susceptible to disease. When combined with Heritage Action fungicide, Divanem can further improve turf quality, turf density, root growth, and quality while providing enhanced biotic and abiotic stress tolerance.

Proven Performance

  • Powered by the trusted active ingredient abamectin, Divanem is a suspension concentrate formulation designed to move more quickly into the soil where parasitic nematodes are found for fast, effective control at the source.
  • Helps protect roots from nematode damage and drought, which leads to more durable, stress-tolerant turf that can recover quicker from stresses like disease and aerification.
  • Allows flexible application rates and season-long rotations for effective agronomic program.
  • Divanem is available for individual sale or in a Multipak with Heritage Action® fungicide.
  • When used with Heritage Action, superintendents can help manage nematodes as well as diseases and abiotic stress.

Active Ingredient:

Abamectin

For Use On:

Golf Course greens, tees, and fairways

Controls:

Turf-Parasitic Nematodes

Application

  • No special equipment needed for application.
  • No course closures are required during or after application. Re-entry is permitted after the spray has dried.
  • Safe for use on greens, tees, and fairways of all turf species.
  • Active ingredient quickly moves into the soil layer and stays where nematodes are found.
  • Turf should be wet before application, and a wetting agent and surfactant should be tank-mixed with Divanem.
  • For best results, applications should be made during mornings when light levels are low, and dew is present. If no dew is present, a short irrigation cycle should be run to moisten turf before application.
  • Low use rates of 3.125 FL OZ – 12.2 FL OZ/ACRE.

Watering in-
Option 1: Irrigate with 0.25" of water within one hour after application.
Option 2: Irrigate with 0.125" of water within one hour after application and another 0.125" of water within 24 hours.

This pesticide is toxic to fish and wildlife. Do not apply directly to water, areas where surface water is present, or intertidal areas below the mean high-water mark. Do not apply when weather conditions favor drift from target areas. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment. This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment on blooming crops or weeds. Do not apply this product or allow it to drift to blooming crops or weeds while bees are foraging in or adjacent to the treatment area.
Do not apply to golf course roughs.

Get the Full Picture of Your Issues by Sampling for Nematodes

Nematode damage is often mistaken for other issues such as drought, disease, and nutrient deficiencies, but nematodes are a real threat to your turf quality. Although most commonly found in sandy soils, nematodes can affect golf courses across the country. The only way to accurately diagnose nematode problems is to send a soil sample to a nematode laboratory for analysis. The lab will extract the nematodes from the soil and determine if they are present at potentially damaging levels.

  • Plan your sampling: Nematode populations can vary widely across the golf course, so several samples may be needed to identify problem areas. High-value areas, like putting greens or tees, should be sampled individually. Larger areas, such as fairways, should be divided into about one-acre segments based on soil type or topography.
  • Avoid dead turf: If grass is showing signs of severe stress or decline, do not take samples from these areas. Nematodes can only feed on live turf, so dead or heavily damaged areas will not provide accurate readings.
  • Collect 15-20 samples following a zig-zag pattern: To gauge the average population in the area, samples should be taken across turf in a zig-zag pattern. Nematodes can be unevenly distributed across healthy turf, so it is essential to take several samples to accurately count.
  • Sample to the current depth of the root system: Nematodes are most abundant where active root growth is occurring. Collecting the samples too deep or too shallow may yield inaccurate results.

Although a laboratory test is necessary to diagnose nematode problems, this is not always the best way to judge the performance of a nematicide program. Turf quality and growth, response to fertilizer applications, stress and drought tolerance, and root development are more reliable. Nematode populations can fluctuate dramatically over time, so sampling treated and untreated areas at once is the only way to determine if treatment reduces the nematode populations.
