Reinders Deluxe 50 Lawn Seed Mix Will Give You Thriving Bluegrass Turf with Low Maintenance

Reinders Deluxe 50 Lawn Seed Mix is formulated for areas where a predominant bluegrass turf is desired, yet minimum maintenance is desired. Deluxe 50 will persist on non-irrigated sites with wide environmental conditions variations. Wicked and Fiesta 4 Perennial Ryegrass provides a quick ground cover and soil stabilization with quality and disease resistance vastly superior to unimproved perennial ryegrasses. The sod quality Kentucky Bluegrass and the named variety of Kentucky Bluegrass produce a well-knit sod and withstand moderately heavy foot traffic. Creeping Red Fescue provides shade tolerance, low fertility persistence, drought tolerance, and disease resistance. This mixture combines good quality turf and long-term persistence with moderate maintenance requirements, making this a good grass seed choice.
Maintenance
Deluxe 50 will achieve adequate density and a medium-dark green color with two to three fertilizations per season. It will do well under lower fertility programs, but an increased fertility program is needed to achieve a higher quality turf. A mowing height of 2-3" is recommended for maximum drought tolerance and weed resistance. This mixture should not be mowed below 1-1/2".

New Seeding: Rotary or Drop Spreader 150-200 LBS/ACRE

20-50% Existing Cover 100-125 LBS/ACRE
50-75% existing cover 75–100 LBS/ACRE
Seeding Depth: 1/8-1/2"
Planting Instructions
Seed germination and seedling emergence can vary. Allow 5 to 21 days for germination depending upon types of seed and time of year.
Watering Tips
Water newly seeded areas lightly and frequently during early stages of seedling emergence and establishment. As turf thickens, water less frequently but for longer periods, allowing deeper penetration of moisture into the soil.
DO NOT ALLOW SEEDBEDS TO DRY OUT DURING EARLY STAGES OF TURF ESTABLISHMENT. This can cause seedlings to die due to lack of moisture.
DO NOT OVERWATER. This can cause runoff and soil erosion. Water amount and length of watering are dependent on time of year, weather conditions, and soil types.
New Lawns-
For a new lawn, till soil to a depth of 4-6 inches. Remove all rocks and foreign matter. Follow recommended seeding rate and apply seed at half rate in two different directions. Rake/drag seed into seedbed. Water immediately.
Lawn Overseeding-
To overseed an established lawn with existing grass, core aerate and/or power rake to remove thatch and lightly expose the soil surface. Seed at recommended rate and rake/drag seed into lawn surface to ensure good see-to-soil contact. Water immediately.
Spot Seeding-
Aggressively rake dead spots to remove thatch, add extra soil and/or amendments if necessary and work into existing soil. Lightly sprinkle seed over bare spot. Aim for 12-15 seeds per square inch. Water immediately.
Fertilizer Tips-
Spread a slow-release starter fertilizer according to the directions. Water in thoroughly. Do not use pre-emergence herbicide or crabgrass preventer.
Rake and Cover-
Seed will germinate best when covered lightly with soil no more than 1/8 inch. Rake lightly or roll to achieve this. For better moisture retention, apply a light mulch over seedbed.
Mowing Tips-
Do not mow until grass is at least 2.5 inches tall, and use a sharp mower blade. Mow often enough so that no more than 30% of blade height is cut at a time. Vary mowing pattern to deter soil compaction. Sharpen mower blades regularly.
