Specially formulated Bayer Tribute Total herbicide provides post-emergence control over a wide range of annual and perennial grass weeds, including but not limited to sallisgrass, crabgrass, kyllinga, and sedges in well-established Zoysiagrass and Bermudagrass.

Post-Emergent Control with Tribute
Tribute Total works in post-emergent applications. It’s helpful to distinguish between the two main types of weed control since they differ slightly in terms of their purpose.

• Pre-Emergent Herbicides- Pre-emergent weed control allows you to prevent weeds from sprouting and popping up from underneath the ground. Pre-emergent herbicides will kill weeds before the seed sprouts as temperatures begin to warm, usually in early spring.

• Post-Emergent Herbicides- Post-emergent herbicides kill weeds that have already sprouted.  Because Tribute Total herbicide acts as post-emergent weed control, it will ensure that pesky plants will not spread and invade the rest of your grass. It’s best to use a post-emergent anytime between the spring and fall months.

Active Ingredient Mode of Action
This herbicide is responsible for destroying tough-to-tackle broadleaf weeds that have already germinated. Active ingredients Thiencarbazone, Foramsulfuron, and Halosulfuron-methyl travel down the plant stalk and into the root system to kill the weed and prevent it from infiltrating the entire area of turf. These active ingredients inhibit protein acetolactate synthase— this enzyme catalyzes the first step in the biosynthesis of essential branched chain amino acids. Because of the lowered levels of ALS enzyme and amino acids, a biochemical event is triggered, which culminates in the death of the weed.
