Keys to Success

Spray coverage of BASF Drive XLR8 Herbicide should be uniform and complete. It is recommended not to mow two days before or after application. Irrigation may improve weed control if soil moisture is not sufficient. Drive XLR8 may be tank-mixed with other pre-and post-emergent grass herbicides, along with post-emergent broadleaf herbicides.

Application

Apply Drive XLR8 to actively growing weeds as post-emergence broadcast or spot sprays using the turfgrass species, rate, and growth stages indicated on the product label. DO NOT exceed the labeled application rate or fail to comply with use restrictions listed in Restrictions and Limitations.

For best results, weeds should not be under stress from lack of water, excessive water, low fertility, mowing shock, excessive hot or cold temperatures, or injury from other herbicide applications.

Use Drive XLR8 Herbicide with Pylex Herbicide for Even More Consistent Weed Control

Both Pylex herbicide and BASF Drive XLR8 have proven to be excellent post-emergent herbicides for controlling annual grasses and numerous broadleaf weeds. By combining these two unrivaled products in a tank mix, we see more effective and consistent weed control, along with a broader spectrum of weeds controlled. For pinpoint weed control in the summer months, tank mix Pylex herbicide and Drive XLR8 herbicide for impressive turf.

Benefits of Herbicide Tank Mix:

  • Provides unsurpassed control of most all annual grasses, including crabgrass, goosegrass, foxtails, barnyardgrass, and more
  • Provides faster activity and extended weed control
  • Eliminates inconsistent control on crabgrass

A tank mix of Pylex herbicide and Drive XLR8 herbicide is effective whether you want to control crabgrass on a lawn, goosegrass on an athletic field, or foxtail on a golf course. Both products control many grassy and broadleaf weeds, and by combining these two products, the benefits of each herbicide complement each other. More consistent, more effective, and more weeds controlled.

While Drive XLR8 herbicide has been a standard for controlling crabgrass for many years, tank mixing with Pylex herbicide delivers a superior combination.

Tolerant turfgrasses

Pylex herbicide + Drive XLR8 herbicide can be used on tall fescue, fine fescue, perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, creeping bentgrass, and annual bluegrass.

Use sites

Pylex herbicide + Drive XLR8 can be applied to most turfgrass sites, such as golf course tees, green surrounds, fairways, roughs and native areas, lawns (residential and commercial), sports fields, recreational areas, sod farms, cemeteries, schools, and other turf areas.

A single application will provide excellent control in most situations, but a sequential application can be made three weeks later in areas where the season is extended.

Unlike many other post-emergent products, you can reseed within seven days after application. On newly seeded turf, delay application until after the turfgrass has matured and been mowed 2-3 times.

Conquer Your Most Challenging Fields with Dependable Products and an Herbicide Resistance Management Plan

While weed resistance to Group 4 herbicides like BASF Drive XLR8 is infrequent, populations of resistant biotypes exist. Weeds resistant to Group 4 herbicides may be effectively managed using herbicide from a different group. Resistance management should be part of a diversified weed control strategy that integrates chemical, cultural, and mechanical (tillage) control tactics. Cultural control tactics include crop rotation, proper fertilizer placement, and optimum seeding rate/row spacing.

These Indicators may identify suspected Herbicide-Resistant Weeds:

  • Failure to control a weed species normally controlled by the herbicide at the dose applied, especially if control is achieved on adjacent weeds
  • A spreading patch of non-controlled plants of a particular weed species
  • Surviving plants mixed with controlled individuals of the same species

Best Management Practices for Resistance Management/Scouting and Containment

  • Scout areas before application to identify the weed species present and their growth stage to determine if the intended application will be effective.
  • Scout areas after herbicide application to determine if there are any weed escapes.
  • Control weed escapes with a non-Group 4 herbicide or use a mechanical control measure.
  • To the extent possible, DO NOT allow weed escapes to produce seeds or to proliferate vegetatively.
  • Clean equipment before moving to a different area to avoid spread of resistant weeds.
