Need galvanized fittings for irrigation pipes? Check out our top-rated fittings by American Granby!

These fittings are steel, malleable iron or ductile iron, so they’re also sturdy and more economical than copper. Coated with the highest-quality zinc to exacting standards, these galvanized fittings can be counted on to prevent corrosion, salt and pipe-blocking mineral buildup for years to come.

Galvanized steel fittings are also a better choice for galvanized steel pipes, since copper and brass may carry enough copper to erode the zinc coating.

Browse our wide selection of steel irrigation pipe fittings that are galvanized, from nipples to tees, crosses to plugs, caps to couplings and a whole lot more!

Galvanized fittings are used for commercial and industrial irrigation because of the zinc’s ability to protect against corrosion, salt and mineral buildup that can block pipes. Galvanized pipe and fittings may be used in most irrigation applications with the exception of underground lines, where they’ll corrode faster. While they work best with cold water lines, they may be used with hot water as well.

We offer pipe fittings in galvanized steel and in malleable iron, a type of mild steel with excellent strength and corrosion resistance. Malleable iron is also coated with a thick layer of zinc, which prevents rusting.

All our galvanized pipe fittings made of steel are lead-free, available in a wide range of sizes and third-party certified for NSF/ANSI 372.

All our galvanized malleable iron fittings meet the following specifications:

  • Class 150 malleable iron pipe fitting; complies with CSA B-5 specifications
  • Third-party certified to NSF/ANSI 372.
  • Air pressure tested
  • Working pressure: Max: 300 PSI at -20°F to 150°F. Min 150 PSI at 350°F
  • Material: ANSI/ASTM A197
  • Dimensions: ANSI B.16.3 fittings ASME/ANSI B.16.39 unions
  • Threads: ASME/ANSI B.1.20.1
  • Tensile Strength: Min 48000 PSI (330 MPa)

Couplings/unions

When it comes to galvanized fittings for irrigation pipe systems, our choices include couplings and union fittings. The basic difference between a coupling and a union is that a coupling is for joining pipe to pipe or pipe to a swedge (swage). A union is made for joining and disassembling a part of a piping system (a steam trap or control valve, etc.) for maintenance and replacement.

Our options, both thickly coated with zinc for superior protection, include:

American Granby - Galvanized Reducing Coupling - FIPT X FIPT

American Granby - Galvanized Pipe Union Fitting - FIPT X FIPT

Pipe nipples

In irrigation pipe applications, pipe nipples are often used to repair or extend a pipe system. Longer nipples are usually used to elevate sprinklers above the ground. PVC pipe nipple fittings are mainly used in low-pressure irrigation pipe systems, although manufacturers have been working to make them handle higher pressures better.

We carry the following galvanized steel nipple fittings for irrigation pipe:

American Granby - Galvanized Steel Irrigation Pipe Nipple

  • Standard nipple configuration
  • Available in a wide variety of sizes

American Granby - Close Galvanized Nipple

  • Closed nipple configuration
  • Available in a wide variety of sizes

Crosses

We offer the following pipe cross fittings for irrigation by American Granby. A thick layer of zinc coats each “steel” fitting of malleable or ductile iron in order to galvanize it.

American Granby - 1" Galvanized Cross - FIPT

A pipe cross is a kind of pipe fitting used in the place where four pipes meet together. The pipe cross may have one inlet and three outlets, or three inlets and one outlet. The diameter of the outlet and inlet can be the same or different.

  • Offers all Class 150 malleable iron features listed above

American Granby - 1-1/4" Galvanized Tank Cross – FIPT

This short cross reduces turbulence and waterlogging in tanks without separate air chambers. It has one drain and two top ports. It’s made of galvanized ductile iron, which is different than malleable iron. Malleable iron (a kind of mild steel) typically has some internal flaws stemming from irregularly-shaped carbon particles. This makes cracking a possibility. Ductile iron has spherical carbon particles that allow for more bending.

Features include:

  • Internal and external threads reduce fittings needed and installation time
  • Lead free
  • 1-1/4" tank connection
  • 1/2" drain port
  • Third-party certified to NSF/ANSI 372
