Goal: This is a basic electrical design and troubleshooting class for low voltage lighting systems. With new LED technology came the notion that understanding proper electrical design and voltage drop calculations were a thing of the past. This could not be further from the truth and the goal of this class is to give attendees the proper tools needed to design, install, and troubleshoot low voltage lighting systems using hands-on learning, code reference, electrical formulas, and proven ﬁeld techniques.

10:00 AM-10:30 AM Registration-Introduction to Instructors & The Course
10:30 AM-11:30 AM Troubleshooting: Getting acquainted with a True RMS multimeter
(Group hands-on session at stations with various ﬁeld issues. Understanding volts/amps/watts relationship, resistance, continuity) 11:30AM-12:30PM Electrical Design: Theory -vs- Field (Voltage Drop Calculations, Proper cable amperage, wire connections)
12:30 PM- 1:00 PM LUNCH
1:00 PM- 1:30 PM Understanding Current Codes & Installation Requirements
(Knowing more than the inspector: UL1838, NEC 411, NEC 680)
1:30 PM- 2:00 PM Field Repair & Maintenance Contract Session (Repairing LED ﬁxtures/boards, controllers/facepacks, contract language)
2:00 PM- 2:30 PM Specialty Lighting Tools Session for Installation & Maintenance (trenching tools, wire strippers, crimpers, tree work, cable identiﬁers, surge suppressors, spoolers, lamp testers, fault ﬁnders)
2:30 PM- 3:00 PM Testing
Fee: None (Includes Course Materials & Lunch). We will be working with True RMS clamp-on digital multimeters which are essential for those installing LED lighting systems. You are not required to bring one but we are offering them at a special price of $65 for those wanting them. Please let us know at time of registration.
