Roundup products

When it comes to post-emergent, systemic herbicides, Roundup is the most well-known brand for a reason. Contractors have told us, time and time again, that it lives up to its claims of fast, effective results better than competitors like Spectracide Weed Stop, which they consider to be more of a specialist herbicide for residential jobs. Spectracide also only works on contact, while Roundup targets the entire plant for greater effectiveness.
Our two favorites from the Roundup line: PROMAX and QuikPro. When it comes to commercial landscape, forestry, turf and lawn settings, these are the industry’s go-to total vegetation controls.

Roundup PROMAX Post-Emergent Herbicide

PROMAX is unmatched in value and performance when it comes to large areas like golf courses, sports complexes and warm- and cool-season turfgrass. It only works on plants that haven’t sprouted and doesn’t stay active for long the soil, so you can plant in the same area afterwards. It’s also ready for rain in just half an hour.
Roundup PROMAX has a rock-solid reputation for preventing a wide range of the toughest annual and perennial weeds, woody brush and trees. It kills grasses, brush vines and the following weeds: poison oak, poison ivy, chickweed, crabgrass, clover, dandelion, thistle and quackgrass (see label for complete list).
A total killer herbicide formulated as a water-soluble liquid, PROMAX already contains surfactant, so no additional surfactant is needed. And the distinctive surfactant used in this product works quicker than in competing brands, absorbing into the plant in just 30 minutes!
With glyphosate as its active ingredient, PROMAX works by inhibiting an enzyme needed to make amino acids in plants. It affects every part of the plant, including the roots, which will be affected within 24 hours. A visible result like yellowing or wilting may not be visible for one to four days in annual weeds and up to seven days or more in perennials. All-over browning and deterioration of the plant and its roots will follow.

Roundup QuikPRO Post-Emergent Herbicide

QuikPRO offers the same weed and grass killing power as Roundup PROMAX, but this total vegetation controller offers more glyphosate and Diquat for a quicker burndown, including root systems and rhizomes. It kills the same grass and weeds and can be used on the same sites as PROMAX, although it’s used more in parks and ornamental landscapes.

Formulated as water-soluble granules already containing surfactant, this solution is one of the easiest among application methods.

Other details:

  • Visible result in as little as 24 hours
  • Diquat dibromide – 2.9 percent; glyphosate – 73.3 percent
  • Quick uptake speeds kill roots faster
  • Rainfast in one hour

We also offer Roundup Pro Concentrate in a 2.5-gallon jug.

Other favorites

Alligare Mojave 70 EG

Like Ortho Groundclear, this pre- and post-emergent total killer of vegetation contains imazapyr, a root-active herbicide that kills most grasses, weeds and other plants  while providing outstanding residual control all season long. But Mojave also contains diuron – another strong pre-emergent. This gives it superior strength and staying power, especially when it comes to weed control under pavement or hardscaping.

Contractors keep telling us they won’t trust any other soil stabilizer – they don’t need to worry about re-treating after the initial application!

Among herbicides labeled as total killers, this one’s also particularly compatible with drift-control agents. And when you use it according to label instructions, it won’t harm nearby desired vegetation – even sensitive crops.

Lawn and landscape professionals also love Mojave 70 EG’s fast-dissolving, easy-to-mix, dispersible granules. After being mixed with surfactants for the fastest penetrating power, this stable, long-lasting suspension can be applied with either conventional or injection sprayers without fear of clogging nozzles or injection units.

For commercial landscapers dealing with lots of square footage – and rising expenses - Mojave 70 EG’s granule-to-liquid formulation is also the most cost-effective choice. In reviews, contractors have noted that they can generally use it in the lowest concentration and it gets – and keeps – the job done reliably!

Mojave 70 EG is unmatched when it comes to bare ground control, especially for invasive brush and weeds in the following areas:

railroad, utility, pipeline and highway rights-of-way
utility plant sites
petroleum tank farms
pumping installations
fence line areas
storage areas
non-irrigation ditch banks
farmyards and around farm buildings

And the spectrum of invasive plant species this covers is the broadest we’ve seen - more than 150 kinds of annual and perennial grasses, broadleaf weeds, brush and vines, including:

annual bluegrass
annual ryegrass
bermudagrass
crabgrass
bermudagrass
goosegrass
quackgrass
clover
common ragweed
primrose
(See product label for complete list of weeds, grasses, brush, vines and brambles.)

For annual weed control, it’s best to apply Alligare Mojave 70 EG either at late pre-emergence to early post-emergence for best results. For perennial weeds, it must be applied post emergence, since it won’t stop sprouting. For optimum performance, weeds should be growing strong and an adjuvant sprayer should be used.

Solutions can be broadcast by ground or aerial equipment, or applied as spot treatment using low-volume techniques.

Tordon Ready-To-Use Herbicide (1 GAL)

Need to kill unwanted trees or prevent the sprouting of undesirable cut trees? Sure, cutting, trimming or mowing may seem like a fast, easy solution for controlling overgrown trees, brush and weeds. But it doesn’t last, and it’s more labor-intensive. Why buy more expensive gas for the lawnmower or chainsaw or pay for more man hours to redo the job when chemicals can offer a one-and-done alternative?

That’s why Tordon offers this no-mix, no-measure selective herbicide for tree, weed and brush control in forest and non-crop areas. Use it for fence rows, roadsides, railroads and rights-of-way. With picloram as its active ingredient, Tordon herbicide gets into plant root systems to kill trees, brush and weeds in as little as two weeks with no resprouting.

In addition to many annual and perennial weeds, this product controls more than 20 woody species, including: alder, green ash, aspen, birch, cedar, cherry, dogwood, elm, fir, gum, hawthorn, hickory, hornbeam, magnolia, maple, oak, pecan, persimmon and serviceberry.

Tordon RTU’s no-freeze formulation keeps the product flowing freely, and its blue dye helps you keep track of treated stumps.
