Need Schedule 80 or Schedule 40 PVC irrigation pipe rated for a particular pressure that meets or exceeds ASTM D-1785 standards and is approved by the NSF? You won’t find a better name than Cresline, and that’s why we carry their products.

Cresline’s rigid PVC 1120 pipe provides excellent impact strength, can be used for drinking water and comes in plain ends or bell ends, for all your commercial irrigation applications.

Typical applications include: submersible pumps, irrigation jet pumps, electrical conduit, water service lines, swimming pools, farm and ranch water systems, sprinkler systems, construction and excavations, well pipe and casing and industrial application municipal water systems.

In order to recommend the proper type of Cresline plastic PVC pipe, you need to know three things:

1. What fluid?

2. At what pressure?

3. At what temperature?

All of Cresline pipes have pressure ratings per square inch at 73.4 degrees Fahrenheit and range between 130 and 600 psi for Schedule 40 pipe and 250 to 850 psi for Schedule 80 pipe, depending on the size of the pipe.

See Cresline’s Specification Sheet 761 LW and HW (under “Product Literature” in each product description) for a conversion chart of different pressure ratings at different temperatures. Also keep in mind whether the pipe will be subjected to exterior heat from the sun or other heat sources and figure maximum allowable pressures accordingly.

All Cresline pipe (except Spartan, PVC & ABS-DWV Cellular Core, DS and sewer pipe) is approved for drinking water use by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), so you have no problem when any type of cold water transmission is involved.

Sch 40 PVC pipe

The main differences between Schedule 40 (Sch 40) and Schedule 80 (Sch 80) PVC pipe are: water pressure rating, sizing and diameter (wall thickness), color and application (or use of the pipe).

Schedule 40 PVC pipe is usually white in color. Schedule 80 is usually a dark gray (they can also be found in other colors). Their most important difference, though, is in their design. Schedule 80 pipe is designed with a thicker wall. This means the pipe is thicker and stronger, and as a result it can handle higher pressures.
