Daconil Fungicide Gives Your Team the Power to Reinforce Your Defenses

The number 1 contact turf fungicide with proven disease control, Daconil Action from Syngenta, is fortified to stimulate the plant’s natural defenses against diseases like dollar spot, algae, and anthracnose for improved turf quality all season.

Give Your Turfgrass the Immune System Boost They Need to Stay Strong All Season

Daconil Action™ fungicide is a broad-spectrum fungicide and plant activator that controls 15 and suppresses two diseases. This multi-site fungicide contains the most utilized active ingredient in turf: chlorothalonil, plus a “Turf Protein Booster” enhancing active ingredient Acibenzolar-S-methyl. Unlike traditional methods of disease control, this active ingredient is not a fungicide as it has no direct effect against pathogenic fungi and bacteria. Instead, it acts much like a vaccination.

According to the Fungicide Resistance Committee (FRAC), acibenzolar-S-methyl belongs to the product category called Host Plant Defense Induction (HPDI) in Group P. Acibenzolar is the only active ingredient in the HPDI category, recognized by FRAC code P and the only one registered in turf. This category, which bridges the gap between genetic resistance and conventional disease control, activates the plant’s defense genes via pathogenesis-related proteins (PR proteins) to mimic the natural systemic acquired resistance (SAR) response found in most plant species.

Upon application, Daconil Action adheres to the leaf surface and acibenzolar absorbs into the foliage. Once absorbed, acibenzolar stimulates the natural defense response of the turfgrass by activating the production of PR proteins.

PR proteins activated by acibenzolar increase the plant’s natural ability to ward off disease. We call this response the “PR protein boost.” This boost enhances turf health and awakens its resistance to biotic and abiotic stressors like drought to enhance overall turf quality, ultimately resulting in longer-lasting turfgrass protection.

While chlorothalonil provides excellent protection as a multi-site fungicide on the plant surface, acibenzolar’s highly systemic properties help achieve broad plant coverage. The result is uniform distribution throughout the plant and superior systemic translocation to ensure natural defense activation for new growth.

  • An essential tank-mix/rotation partner
  • Effective in resistance management programs
  • Premium, proven, leading-edge formulation technology that sticks and stays
  • Suppression of new diseases including Pythium blight and bacterial wilt
  • Enhances turf health and increases tolerances to biotic and abiotic stressors like drought tolerance

Daconil Action offers-

  • Enhanced disease control- Daconil Action provides the same disease spectrum as the existing Daconil fungicide label with the added benefit of enhanced control for dollar spot and anthracnose. A new lower application rate of 1.6 FL OZ/1,000 SQ FT offers similar control of dollar spot on fairway-height turf as 2.0 OZ/1,000 SQ FT of generic chlorothalonil.
  • Suppression of additional diseases- Chlorothalonil has no activity on Pythium blight and bacterial wilt. Acibenzolar has no direct effect against pathogenic fungi and bacteria. However, the PR proteins activated by acibenzolar increase the plant’s natural ability to suppress Pythium blight and bacterial wilt.
  • Turf health- Daconil Action helps increase the turfgrass plant’s ability to withstand abiotic (environmental) and biotic stress tolerances like drought.

Daconil Active Ingredient List:

Chlorothalonil, Acibenzolar-S-methyl

Use Sites:

  • Golf Courses
  • Professional and Collegiate Athletic Fields
  • Commercial Sites
  • See Daconil Action label for complete list

Diseases Controlled:

  • Dollar Spot
  • Brown Patch
  • Anthracnose
  • Rust
  • Snow Molds
  • See Daconil Action label for complete list

Application:

Do not use on home lawns, recreational park athletic fields, playgrounds, or campgrounds. It should be applied to turf foliage early before disease symptoms become severe and ideally before disease development. See label for complete directions and application instructions.
Thorough coverage is necessary to provide maximum disease control.
Apply Daconil Action in an adequate amount of water to provide complete coverage. This amount may vary from 45 to 120 GAL/ACRE. Under severe disease conditions, use the highest rate and shortest interval corresponding with the application schedule.
DO NOT mow or water after treatment until spray deposited on turfgrass is thoroughly dry; Daconil Action should always be used in conjunction with good turf management practices.
